Students in County House Village Apartment, Sheffield Gate and Henley neighborhoods relocate from Bells Elementary School to Hurffville Elementary School. The new map moves students living in Sawyer's Creek, Washington Way Apartments and Millstream Apartments from Whitman Elementary School to Wedgwood Elementary. The new map will decrease bus ride times for many students and will redistribute the student population more evenly throughout elementary and middle school buildings, the district promises. Sawyer's Creek and 10 more neighborhoods are impacted by the redrawn map. Students in Sawyer's Creek, for instance, are close to Wedgwood Elementary School, but are bused to Whitman School. Schools for new neighborhoods were based on open seats, not necessarily proximity to schools in their area. The current map - redrawn in 1997 and adjusted in 2004 - is a "patchwork" created over decades as new developments and apartment complexes sprang up in the rapidly growing municipality.
